Samsung announced five new products during its Galaxy Unpacked event. Three of those are the new flagship smartphones: the Galaxy Z Fold 8, Z Fold 8 Ultra, and Z Flip 8. The Galaxy Z Flip 8 Doesn’t Bring Much Change
If you were expecting a shiny new toy from the Z Flip 8, you might be disappointed — it’s not that different from the Z Flip 7. It has a 4.1-inch outer display and a 6.9-inch inner display, 12GB of RAM, and similar cameras to the Z Flip 7, including a 50MP Wide, 12MP Ultra Wide, and 10X Digital Zoom. Upgrades over the previous model include peak brightness that’s 1,000 nits brighter, now reaching 2,600 nits; a new 2x optical zoom; and a processor upgrade from the Exynos 2500.
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Is a New Device
As Senior Tech Editor Jake Peterson notes, the Z Fold 8 is not the upgraded version of the Z Fold 7 — it’s a brand new device that may appeal to users who want a phablet that takes up a little less space in their pocket. You can expect a 5.5-inch outer display, a 7.6-inch inner display, three rear cameras (50MP Wide, 50MP Ultra Wide, and 2x Optical Zoom), and the same Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip as the rest of the Z 8 line.
