Attic insulation, meanwhile, is one of the most cost-effective ways to reduce the heat load on an AC system - a poorly insulated attic in a super El Niño summer can add hundreds of dollars to a single month’s utility bill.
If there’s a generator on the property, Gambel’s advice is to have a local HVAC technician check and service it before storm season starts. A generator that hasn’t been tested in eighteen months is not a reliable backup - it’s an appliance with an unknown condition.
Seal the Gaps Before Wind Finds Them
